My Week
Monday-P-day
I saw General Lee giant on horse back on the side of Stone Mountain. It was sweet. Then we went to Puppies Galore and petted some super cute puppies. We ate at the Giggy's again, had pork chops. So GOOD! He is so good at cooking.
Tuesday
District meeting again. Went to my first Chic-fil-a in Georgia. Tastes about the same as Utah. I did not stay up at all on New Years Ever. I was so tired and it kinda felt like just a normal day as a missionary.
We met with Lawrence today and it went awesome. He asked a tone of questions and we taught him more and he let us see his new puppies that be breads. They were so cute and it was awesome that he opened up to us that much and let us see his pride and joy. I think things are going good there.
Wednesday
HAPPY NEW YEAR! We did our ice cream service scooping for the old people. There was this old lady-so cute-tugged on Elder Fowers pants from her wheel chair and said, "come and sit and talk with me." So I held down the ice cream scooping while he talked with her. He kinda figured out her life because she could only remember dates of when people were born and when people were married. So he had to do a lot of math and wrote it all down so she would know how old her children were and when they got married and how old some of her grand children were. That was awesome.
We ate some pizza today. One of the only times I have had pizza. I thought I would be getting lots of pizza from YSA members, but we don't. They feed us chicken. I have had so much chicken while in Georgia. At least once a day or twice a day.
Thursday
We dropped in on Abraham today, one of our new investigators. He was like why are you here and seemed like he wasn't too interested in learning about the gospel any more--which is sad. I want people to get it that they are going to be so much more happy with the restored gospel in their lives. We also went to see a man named Joseph Flock. But he broke his back a while ago and now it's really bad so he couldn't talk with us at all. Which was okay--I just hope he starts feeling a little better and stops hurting so much. We were able to talk to his dad and taught him, so that was cool. He is Catholic. We felt he needed a little hope. He was super grateful for the lesson.
Friday
I got to lead the area because Elder Fowers went on exchanges in Lawrenceville. I was with Elder Hansen. He is a super cool and chill guy. Sometimes he reminds me of Jordan--crazy personality--haha! We found the most amazing lady. We were out tracking and she opened up her door and before we could say anything, she said "I have been waiting for you for three years--come in" We went in and taught her the first lesson. She said she believes every word and she loves the Mormons and wants to read the Book of Mormon and come to church. I was in shock--it was amazing. So elect.
It's been super cold. I have been wearing two cardigans and a coat and sweats under my suit pants and I am still cold! It's crazy. But I am doing good and I promise I am trying hard to not get sick and lose any toes or fingers. I was surprised when we found a fountain and it had like two inches of ice on it and there was snow on the ground.
I am learning so much out here about the gospel and how it leads us to real joy and happiness and how that joy has been in my life and I didn't even know it. I can't wait to go out again and try and tell everyone about that joy and the love I have felt from my Heavenly Father.
Love, Elder Bartholomew
